Afterwards, we will add her presentation outline to our<a href=\"http:\/\/library.tarleyrobinson.com\/\" target=\"_blank\"> online library<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>As a short introduction to this presentation, the stated purpose of the\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.law.cornell.edu\/uscode\/uscode15\/usc_sup_01_15_10_41_20_V.html\" target=\"_blank\">Fair Debt Collections Practices Act<\/a> (&#8220;FDCPA&#8221;) is \u201cto eliminate abusive debt collection practices by debt collectors.\u201d Although many of us do not equate efforts to collect homeowner association assessments with\u00a0&#8220;debt collectors,&#8221;\u00a0the FDCPA has been expanded by judicial interpretation to include these assessments as debts covered by the FDCPA.<\/p>\n<p>Susan&#8217;s presentation will outline the penalties for failure to abide by the FDCPA and tips to ensure compliance.
